Gemine
Muse opens once again the doors of Italian museums to young
artists in 28 Italian cities, involving 28 museums, 32 critics
and 89 artists.
Again in action are the cities that provide the
network connecting the different subjects involved in the project,
the museums that display their rich collections and their
rooms full of past memories, the critics that elaborate
the guidelines orientating the challenge between the young
artists who, in turn, create unusual relationships between
works, places, history and experimental languages.
The distance between the prestigious past, historical consecration
and the unexpected work of the young artists becomes a breeding
ground where chance and the intents of the different actors meet,
sowing new opportunities and creative thoughts. The museums seize
the opportunity for stimulating openings, casting a new peculiar
light on their own treasures, while the young artists, forced
to move outside their codes of reference, are turned into attentive
and enterprising visitors looking for a new reading, an interpretation
belonging neither to their research nor to the museums' traditions.
The project aims at creating a shockwave between the two dimensions,
enhancing not only the creativity of the young artists, but also
of the public institutions' system connected to art and artistic
promotion. The match between past and present art takes place
on the paternal ground, but it is entirely played by the last
generation of artists.
