Michele Bolognese
I'm Michele Bolognese (Mandlion), I was born in Altamura (BA) , in Puglia (South Est of Italy), in 01-08-1988 . I am a painter and player of instruments (mandolin, mandola, bouzouki, melodica, tammorra). Since I was a childhood I have played with my mother Maria Moramarco and my father Luigi Bolognese with their band Uaragniaun, founded in 1978. I have had the fortune to grow up surrounded by different types of musical instruments and influences. Then I started to study mandolin at Bari's Conservatory while in a self taught mode I started to paint inspired by landscapes of Murgia (Puglia).
A second period of my artistic life started when I decided to transfer to Trento , to study Enviromental Engeneering in University.
After many encounters I became a founding member of three successfull different musical projects such as Fan Chaabi( Ethnic-Mediterranean Music) , MurJah Warriors Sound Art System (Homemade Roots-Rasta Sound System) and Duppy Conquerors( an unconventional tribute band of Bob Marley.
In theese years under the pseudonym of Mandlion, I started different collaborations with sound systems all around the world , recording mandolin and melodica for the instrumental version of a series of "dubplates" and vynil releases.
While the musical projects took off I kept on painting with different techniques,in the everlasting porsue of a fusion between the figurative art and the musical experience.
